Newer technologies like Adobe Flex and Microsoft Silverlight let us build great-looking, intuitive, easy-to-use, cross-browser and cross-platform applications that beat the socks off those old Powerbuilder applications we used to be so fond of.

The good news is that many of the old limitations of web applications are no more. The bad news is that it's difficult to stay on top of these advances if your development teams spend their time maintaining Web 1.0 applications built years ago that don't incorporate these new technologies.
